Surroundings
Estamariu is located in the Cadí-Moixeró Nature Reserve. The two great mountain ranges joined by the Coll de Tancalaporta form an impressive mountain barrier at the point of union between the Pre-Pyrenees and the Pyrenees.
It is here that the Cadí-Moixeró Nature Reserve is situated, alongside great biodiversity and places of special beauty.
In this privileged environment, surrounded by the wildest nature of the Pyrenees, you will find many outdoor activities and places to visit, on foot, by bicycle or motorbike.
The village of Estamariu
Estamariu is a small stone village of little more than 100 inhabitants, situated between mountains. Enjoy the regenerating and unforgettable tranquility.
The houses in the village follow the typical architecture of the Catalan Pyrenees: thick walls that protect you from cold and heat, black slates to leverage heat in winter, and century-old wooden beams that tell a thousand stories.
In the surroundings you will also see farmers and cattle breeders taking care of their animals.

Estamariu and its surroundings are a real paradise for hiking lovers. There are several routes available to enjoy the unspoilt and exuberant nature of the purest Pyrenees.
Take a peaceful walk up to Bescaran and discover the fairytale paths. If you’re after more demanding routes, you’ll be sure to find them, such as the route to Roc Beneidor, passing through bridges, forests and mysterious remains full of history.
If you are observant and stealthy, you will be able to see the typical fauna of the Pyrenees in this area: chamois, foxes and woodland roosters. The latter of which require much silence and patience in order to catch a glimpse.
Leisure activities
If you feel like connecting with nature in a more peaceful way, you can go horse riding while observing the majesty of the landscape. From the Hotelet d’Estamariu we recommend ‘La Cerdanya a quatre potes’ riding arena, as it’s only 25 minutes from the hotel.
If you’re looking for more adrenaline, you can go to La Sede and visit the Segre Olympic Canal. Here you can do whitewater kayaking and rafting, just 8km from the hotel.
Motorcycling
Hotelet d’Estamariu is bike-friendly and we will do everything we can to make your stay perfect. Enjoy a welcome drink, safe storage space for your bike and facilities to rinse your clothes should you need to do so. And there’s plenty of space if you need to wash your bike!
